This privacy notice for Knitwise (“we,” “us,” or “our”) describes how and why we might collect, store, use, and/or share (“process”) your information when you use our services (“Services”), such as when you:

  • Download and use our mobile application Knitwise; and
  • Engage with us in other related ways, including any support or communications.

1. What Information Do We Collect?

Personal information you disclose to us

We collect personal information you provide directly (e.g., when you contact support).

Sensitive Information

We do not process sensitive personal information.

Information automatically collected

We automatically collect device and usage information when you use the Services. This may include IP address, device and OS information, app version, language settings, and event data (how features are used, timestamps, performance/crash data).

  • Unique identifiers. We assign a “user ID” to your device for analytics using Apple’s Identifier for Vendor (IDFV). This user ID helps us understand app usage over time on the same device. We do not use this for advertising and do not combine it with your contact info.
  • Location. Our analytics provider may infer approximate location (e.g., country/region) from IP address. We do not collect precise location (e.g., GPS).

Do we receive any information from third parties?

We work with service providers (e.g., Google LLC for Google Analytics for Firebase) who process analytics data on our behalf to help measure and improve the Services.

2. How Do We Process Your Information?

  • To provide, maintain, and improve the Services (including performance monitoring and debugging).
  • To measure usage and understand which features are helpful.
  • For security and fraud prevention.
  • To comply with law and enforce our terms.

We do not use analytics data for targeted advertising.

3. What Legal Bases Do We Rely On?

EEA/UK

  • Legitimate Interests: We process analytics data (including the user ID based on IDFV) to understand usage and improve our Services. You have the right to object at any time (see “What Are Your Privacy Rights?”).
  • Legal Obligations: Where required to comply with applicable law.

Canada

We rely on your consent where required by law. You can withdraw consent at any time (see “What Are Your Privacy Rights?”).

4. When and With Whom Do We Share Personal Information?

Vendors, Consultants, and Other Third-Party Service Providers

Web and Mobile Analytics

Google Analytics for Firebase (Google LLC) — processes usage data (e.g., device identifiers such as IDFV, IP address, and event data) on our behalf to provide aggregated analytics and performance reporting. Business Transfers

We may share or transfer information in connection with a merger, sale, financing, or acquisition.

We do not sell or share personal data for cross-context behavioral advertising.

5. How Long Do We Keep Your Information?

We retain analytics identifiers (including the user ID based on IDFV) and related event data for up to 26 months unless you request earlier deletion. We may adjust this retention to a shorter period from time to time.

6. How Do We Keep Your Information Safe?

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal information. However, no electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.

7. Do We Collect Information From Minors?

We do not knowingly collect data from or market to children under 18. If we learn such data was collected, we will delete it.

8. What Are Your Privacy Rights?

EEA/UK

  • Right to object: Where we process analytics data based on legitimate interests, you may object at any time. If you object, we will stop processing analytics data for your device going forward.
  • Other rights: You may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, and data portability where applicable.

Canada/Other Regions

You may withdraw consent where processing relies on consent, and request access, correction, or deletion consistent with applicable law.

Analytics controls

You can request that we disable analytics for your device and/or delete analytics data tied to your device’s user ID (IDFV). Contact support@knitwise.com with your request.

9. Controls for Do-Not-Track Features

There is no uniform DNT standard. We currently do not respond to DNT signals. If a standard is adopted that we must follow, we will update this notice.

10. Do United States Residents Have Specific Privacy Rights?

We do not sell or share personal information (as defined by applicable US state privacy laws). We use service providers under written contracts.

Your rights (e.g., CA/CO/CT/VA and similar)

Request to know/access, correction, deletion, portability (as applicable), and to opt out of selling/sharing (not applicable as we do not sell/share).

Submit requests at support@knitwise.com. We will verify and respond as required by applicable law. Appeals can be sent to the same address.

11. Do We Make Updates to This Notice?

Yes. We may update this notice. The “Last updated” date indicates the latest revision. We may notify you of material changes.
